Italian Where You Are Staying

I will be:

  • your teacher during class hours, which will be held where you are staying;
  • your guide and companion when we tour around together;
  • your private chef whenever you like if you choose to stay in a facility with a nice kitchen.

 

1 Week Standard Course Details

 

  • Number of participants (similar level of Italian): min. 4 max. 8 people;
  • Accommodation: either in one of the facilities indicated above or in one that you select on your own but which must be equipped with a proper space where we can study and practice Italian.
  • This intensive course is not for total beginners (who can best profit from a 2 week course, a sample of which you can find further on in this page);
  • This course is ideal for participants with an upper-elementary, intermediate or advanced knowledge of the Italian Language.
  • My use of the Italian language:
    • From upper-elementary to low-intermediate language level: I will always speak in Italian during classes except during the periodical “tutorial sessions”; I will use one of the foreign languages I know when needed during activities other than class hours and in case of emergency.
    • From intermediate to advanced language level: I will speak only in Italian except for the periodical “tutorial sessions” (and real emergencies).
  • Teaching material: it will be all in Italian.

1 Week Standard Course Schedule

Sunday: Arrival Day

12 / 1 pm      Pick up of the guests at Fiumicino Aeroporto (optional);

1.30ish          Refreshments somewhere on the way to the guest accommodation (optional);

4ish pm        Guests settle and are free to explore around;

8.00 pm        Dinner in a pizzeria.

 Monday. Day 1 of Class: Worm-up     

9.10-12.00     Master class (2 ten minute breaks);

12.00-14.00   Free time;

14.15-15.00   Self studying; self practice; tutoring time;

15.00-16.00   Checking and more practice with me of what has been done in the morning;

16.00-17.00   Master class;

17.00-19.00   Free time;

19.00-20.30   I cook for you. Who wishes to help or just to watch or to entertain is welcome to do so (in Italian, of course). The others can do whatever they want till dinner time;

20.30            Family-style Italian dinner.

Tuesday. Day 2      

9.10-12.30     Master class (2 ten minute breaks);

13.00-14.00   Lunch break;

14.15-15.00   Self studying; self practice; tutoring time;

15.00-16.15   Checking and more practice with me of what has been done in the morning and in the previous day (with one 10 minute break);

16.15-18.15   Master class (with one 10 minute break);

18.30 on       Free evening.

Wednesday. Day 3

9.00-12.30     Open air cultural master class if the weather is good; otherwise we move it to the next day, day 4;

13.00-14.00   Light lunch at a local tavola calda;

14.15-15.00   Practice with me of what has been done in the morning and in the previous days;

15.00-18.30   Master class (2 ten minute brakes);

18.30-20.00   Free/study time;

20.15  Dinner in a restaurant.

Thursday. Day 4    

9.10-12.30     Master class (2 ten minute breaks);

13.00-14.00   Lunch break;

14.15-15.00   Self studying; self practice; tutoring time;

15.00-16.15   Checking and more practice with me of what has been done in the morning and in the previous days (with one 10 minute break);

16.15-18.30   Master class (with one 10 minute break);

18.30-20.30   Free / study time;

19.30-20.30   I cook for you. Who wishes to help or just to watch or to entertain is welcome to do so (in Italian, of course). The others can do whatever they want till dinner time;

20.30            Family style Italian dinner. We might even invite some of my Italian friends over for dinner… J

Friday. Day 5: Decompression starts…

9.10-12.30     Master classes (2 ten minute brakes);

13.00-14.00   Lunch break;

14.15-15.30   Self studying; self practice; tutoring time; some info on day 6 final test;

15.45            Wine & Food Tasting: I will drive you to a very interesting family-run farm that produces both extra-virgin olive oil and wine. There, you will visit the farm’s 2 historic and modern oil mills. We will tour the ancient cellar excavated by hand in volcanic rock. In these charming surroundings, you will taste the 8  wines of the farm and extra virgin oil together with delicious local food prepared with care by the hosts.

At the end of the visit it will be of course possible to buy the products and the gadgets of the farm.

20/20.15       Back to your accommodation. No way you are going to desire more food for the day

Saturday. Day 6: Last morning effort before… more decompression

9.10-10.00     Self revision, pre-final test tutoring;

10.10-11.00   Final test;

11.05-12.00   Collective correction of the test and comments;

12.00-12.15   Written evaluation of the course & activities (not compulsory);

12.30            Visit of an ancient small town of the Umbria region: Orvieto. Lunch in a trattoria;

15.00-17.00   Free time. You can visit on your own this small town, as it is very well organized from a touristic point of view; you might want to shop or just sit and talk with the locals J;

18.00            Back to your facility (bed and breakfast Italy, agriturismo, small hotel, country house, holiday home);

20.00            final dinner…. in your language, if you want. This means that I won’t be among you, but I will choose the restaurant and make sure that nobody in the restaurant speaks a foreign language with you guys J.

Sunday. Day 7: departure day
